University Education
Currently unemployment in Egypt is high, especially among the young college graduates. Studies have found one of the main factors of unemployment within this group is a gap between the needs in the labor market and the skills of the recent graduates. With this in mind, CIRA began to develop a strategy for a university that will offer quality education and equip students with hands-on experience, as well as offering unique degrees not offered at other universities. The purpose of Badr University is to train a new generation of well educated students to meet the needs within the labor market, and who are prepared for leadership within their fields.
Badr University is scheduled to open in 2013 and is able to facilitate 13,800 students. The labor market needs qualified professionals in the areas of healthcare, technology, architecture, economics, management, fine arts, and linguistics. Aside from the general university programs, Badr University will offer departments of pharmacy, dental, architecture and technology, and economics-finance-management, available in phase 1 of the opening, and complemented with departments of physical therapy, nursing, fine arts, cinema and theater, and linguistics-translation in later phases. It will assist in closing the gap through technology, continuing education of teachers and professors, building character and strong minds, cooperation between local and foreign universities, contributing to the development of scientific research, and offering it in an atmosphere that inspires value, patriotism, honesty and pride.
One of the greatest benefits Badr University has to offer is an on-campus Community College. This college has a large area that is designated to hands-on and practical work experience; providing an opportunity for students to develop the skills they are learning in the classroom to be better prepared to enter the workforce immediately following graduation. Technology at the University will meet all international standards for universities, including an E-learning program, full technology in all classrooms, and fully equipped labs.
Badr University is located on 45 acres in Badr City. The unique location and large acreage enables Badr to have plenty of area for many activities and educational benefits such as: a separate building for student activities, library, food court, football grounds, Roman theater, swimming pools, bookstore for international publishers and the list continues. Dorms for students (separate for boys/girls), and lecturers are also being built on campus for those students who prefer living close to the university to achieve the full extent of the experience the university has to offer.
The construction company for Badr University is specialized in educational buildings, therefore able to build a state of the art campus for less the cost. The buildings have been designed to be minimalist as possible, to create a campus that has many green areas and is environmentally friendly.
The members of the Board of Trustees all have experience working in private universities. This combined experience has created opportunities for Badr University to establish relationships with other international universities who will provide support, supervision, and exchange of professors.
